The Writing Life

It's over

Stalker Boy has given up. He has taken down the blogs and websites dedicated to hating and villifying me. He has returned to caring about his own life, instead of mine. My best guess as to what happened was that he finally got some medicine. I thank God that it's over. It was such a big source of stress, and I was constantly worried that he would show up at my door with harmful intent. I'm not afraid any more.

I've been very busy the past couple of months. I landed two books, both with the same deadline date. I wrote the smaller book first, and am now writing the second book. It's due in a few weeks, and it's been a bit of a struggle. It's not the kind of book I usually write. But I am still thankful every day that I get to do this for a living.

One thing that needs to change is that I must make more money. I recently did my taxes (deferred from April) and it was appalling how little I made and how much help I needed. I'm determined to put an end to that trend. I need to make a real living and that means getting more aggressive about landing projects. I need to write more books. I don't fear the work, and I know that I can write fast (I wrote book #1 above in 12 days) if I have to. I need more books, so that I can start to make a decent income.

I'm tireed of deprivation.

I need to get something to eat and then get to work. I need to write a minimum of 1000 words tonight. That won't happen if I'm goofing off on a blog.

Opinion page editors know Horace McCowan. Or at least they know his "constant stream" of letters to the editor, which are inspired by a variety of strongly held views.

  • Thank you, anonymous. I didn't think anyone actually read this. It's nice to know I'm not writing into thin air.
